EDUCATION & OUTREACH PROGRAMS

In 2006, the MCO introduced its Outreach Education Series Concerts in outlying areas of the province. During our 06-07 season, the orchestra returns to Cowansville, Québec for its Annual Multimedia Education Concerts for elementary and high schools from surrounding areas. The MCO is the first Montréal orchestra to travel to schools in these areas to give classical music concerts.

It’s Mozart’s 250th birthday and Boris Brott and the MCO return to Place des Arts to throw the best party in town to celebrate! The great composer himself comes for a visit and tells us what it was like to compose his first symphony at the age of 5! Relevance to Curriculum: Happy Birthday Mr. Mozart! allows students to identify instruments of the orchestra as well as conducting patterns. The concert explores the Classical period, through the music of its most famous composer, Mozart. By preparing and performing a recorder piece, students will have the opportunity to perform with a professional orchestra.

In its efforts to “give the gift of great classical music”, the MCO hosts TWO Multimedia Holiday concerts for individuals who might otherwise be unable to attend during the Christmas Season.
